Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox Corporation has bestowed its ¡®Patriot of the Year¡¯ award on US President-elect Donald Trump. Trump was honoured with the newly-created 'Patriot of the Year' award at the annual Patriot Awards by Fox Nation, which honours military veterans, first responders, and other "inspirational everyday heroes."
Trump, who accepted the award designed to resemble the American flag, also reflected on his campaign for the White House in his acceptance speech.
"We're going to get things straightened out in this country," Trump said, accepting the honorary award.
"We had just a spectacular election. They were thinking it was going to be close, and it wasn't close," he added.
Trump, who is set to assume office in January 2025, also reiterated his commitment to addressing immigration, the economy, and national security.
"We're going to achieve it again and very fast. It's going to be very fast because we have no choice. But we're going to do something that I've been talking about for eight years. We're going to do it again. We have to do it again. We're going to make America great again," he said.
The 78-year-old, who will be in his second and last term as US President, has already assembled a team of loyalists to deliver on his election promises.
This includes Elon Musk, who, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, has been made the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The duo has been tasked with cutting regulations, spending, and headcounts within the federal government.
On the border front, Tom Homan has been appointed as the Border Czar. The former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director will be responsible for mass deportations of illegal immigrants.
