"Aaj Google ke CEO Satya Nadella¡,¡± said Delhi Chief Minister Atishi confidently on stage, while discussing how successful individuals worldwide are predominantly Indian. Her statement quickly went viral as the internet flooded with memes and trolls, highlighting her confidence in stating something factually incorrect.
A video of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is being circulated on social media, showing her mistakenly referring to Satya Nadella as the CEO of Google instead of Sundar Pichai.?
Despite reading directly from a prepared script during her speech, she made the error, which has gone viral online.
The internet was quick to weigh in on the blunder.?
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari shared the clip, commenting, "Atishi says Satya Nadella is the CEO of Google. Even while reading from her speech, she can¡¯t get a basic fact right. This is AAP's education model for you!"
BJP State Vice President Vishnu Vardhan Reddy from Andhra Pradesh said, "Guess Sundar Pichai needs to update his LinkedIn. Maybe next week, Apple will be run by Elon Musk?"
Other comments criticised the mistake, with one noting, "That is not even a faux pas, that is either rabid ignorance or much worse¡ it could be delirium."
The viral clip originates from Delhi Chief Minister Atishi's speech at the Excellence in Education Awards event held at Thyagaraj Stadium.?
While the faux pas is going viral, in the full speech, Atishi corrects herself just moments later.
During her full address, she praised the accomplishments of prominent Indian figures like Sundar Pichai (Google CEO), Satya Nadella (Microsoft CEO), Parag Agrawal (ex-Twitter CEO), and Ajay Banga (World Bank President), emphasising the global impact of Indian leadership.
Atishi also made an important point on India's developmental status, questioning, "Why are we still a developing nation?"?
She attributed this to prioritisation gaps, particularly focusing on education compared to infrastructure projects.
The event itself celebrated academic success, honouring 207 students from Class 10 and Class 12 across government and private schools for their exceptional achievements.
