Fiat unveiled the new version of its electric Fiat 500 back in March this year. Within two months, the company has now shed more light on its availability and as per it, the sale of the Fiat 500 will start with high-spec ¡®La Prima¡¯ first-edition models at a price of ?29,500 (~Rs 27.5 lakh).
The La Prima models will be limited edition, with only 500 of these to be produced by Fiat. Following this, the less expensive models will be sold under the Fat 500 moniker.
Keeping up the half a century of legacy of the car, the La Prima models have been designed ¡°for the next decade¡± as per the company. Highlights among these will include LED headlights, a rear-view camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, eco-leather upholstery and tech features like Apple CarPlay and more. Interestingly, the all-electric Fiat car will also support Level 2 self-driving technology. This will include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane assist.?
Fiat claims a range of up to 320 km (WLTP Combined) on the electric 500. In addition, there is a Sherpa mode for range extension wherein the top speed is limited to 31 mph (50 kmph), the accelerator response is reduced and certain features are deactivated.
As for charging, the Fiat 500 electric will come equipped with 85kW fast charging support. Fiat claims that this will add 31 miles (50 km) of range in just five minutes and 80% charge in 35 minutes.
For performance, the Fiat 500 appoints a 87 kW (118 bhp) electric motor that can get the Fiat 500 from 0 to 50 kmph in 3.1 seconds and 0 to 100 kmph in 9 seconds. Fiat has limited the top speed of the 500 to 150 kmph electronically.
Other features on the 500 include regenerative braking, autonomous driving, a new Uconnect 5 infotainment system and more to make the car a perfect fit for an urban setting. A s and when it is seen on the roads in any of the three colours - ¡®Mineral Grey¡¯, ¡®Ocean Green¡¯ or ¡®Celestial Blue¡¯, the car will portray what a clean mobility future for an urban setting will look like.
