Inverted Energy, India¡¯s own lithium battery manufacturer has come up with a new range of batteries for electric vehicles, solar plants as well as home usage. The company has said that the batteries will be first available only to select EV manufacturers and large solar projects.
As per Inverted Energy, the new lithium-ion batteries are over 20 percent more efficient than those available in the market at present. Interestingly, the company confirms that the batteries have been designed and engineered in India and will be manufactured at the company's production facility in New Delhi. The batteries are expected to enter production from October 2.
The company has listed several advantages of the new range of lithium-ion batteries over the available lead-acid options in the market. It claims that they are one-fourth the weight and less than half the size of the said batteries on an average.
The batteries are also claimed to last up to five times more than their counterparts. They would even require less charging time for the same, expected to cut it in half in comparison.?
Other listed advantages indicate a maintenance-free operation for the batteries. All this is made possible by a microprocessor within the batteries that uses an advanced algorithm for optimum efficiency.
¡°These batteries will be a step towards the future in which energy storage systems will be created and manufactured in India completely," Gurfaraaz Singh, Head of Innovation and Design at Inverted Energy said.
The company says that it has applied for multiple patents around the battery design. One of them is a modular staggered cell rack arrangement that is said to improve thermal management. Once the patents are filed, Inverted lithium-ion batteries will make the batteries available in the open market.
