Apart from phones, Xiaomi?is also making electric vehicles for micro mobility applications. The company proved this with the launch of its Mi Electric Scooters, EF1, HIMO V1 and subsequently the HIMO C20 earlier this year. With a few design and performance upgrades over the EF1, Xiaomi has now come up with a new iteration of its foldable electric bike called QiCycle.
Interestingly, the latest mobility product by the company is made up of carbon-fibre, while its main frame still maintains an aluminium built. Thanks to the carbon-fibre, the overall weight of the electric cycle will be lower than the 14.5 Kg weight of the EF1.
Performance specifications of the Xiaomi QiCycle include a slightly enhanced top speed of 25 kmph through its 250W rear hub motor. There is a 36V, 5.2Ah battery backing the motor that promises a range of around 40 km on a single charge and takes around 3 hours for a full charge.
While the EF1 - earlier model of the QiCycle had 16-inch wheels on, the new QiCycle will reportedly come with 20-inch wheels to take on mildly rough terrains. In addition, there will be a completely digital display with the ability to adjust its brightness as per the ambient lighting. The folding electric bike will also come with a?LED headlamp and an LED tail lamp and support both a twist throttle as well as a pedal assist system.
As of now, the complete specifications of the new QiCycle have not been revealed by the company. The price, however, has been marked at 2,999 (~Rs 30,409). With its launch only taking place in the Chinese market as of now, it is not yet clear if the QiCycle electric bike will make its way to India or not. Even if it does, it is not expected to mark a debut here anytime soon.
