13 Horror Movies From Our Childhood That Scared The Hell Out Of Us And Continue To Do So!
Fear is a powerful and complex emotion. Hence, not everyone enjoys horror movies. They say some people need to feel more intense emotions; there is a need to be affected.

But what happens when we watch horror movies at an early age. Shows like Aahat, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat?among others made us all hide behind the covers, didn¡¯t they?
There were movies too that we watched as a child and they haunt us even today ¨C no matter how brave and independent and courageous we have become now. And some of these movies weren¡¯t even scary but, I guess, we watched them before time or maybe the age factor is to be blamed.
So, here¡¯s a trip down the memory lane to remember the time when horror movies made it difficult to sleep.
#1 Khilona Bana Khalnayak

Long before Annabelle, the doll, gave us the chills, it was Tatya Vinchu the doll that left us traumatised. To be honest, Annabelle is for kids, and Khilona Bana Khalnayak is?for real adults. We just watched the two movies at wrong time.
For the unversed Khilona Bana Khalnayak is a remake of Marathi horror comedy movie Zapatlela.
#2 Sangharsh
It has been decades since Sangharsh had released, but Ashutosh Rana in the role of Lajja Shankar Pandey still gives us the creeps. How can you forget the weird, eerie noises that he made with his fingers? Check this out for reference:

#3 Makdee
Remember Shabana Aazmi¡¯s scary costume and the pit in her old mansion where she kept the abducted kids? This movie brought the story that our parents tried to scare us during childhood ¨C ¡°baba pakad ke le jayega¡±.
For the unversed, the movie was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj of Haider, Omkara, Maqbool and Kaminey fame. It was screened at 2003 Cannes Film Festival and was promoted as The Web Of The Witch in English.

A lot of instalments in the Raaz franchise came but the first one still haunts us. A spirit of woman is haunting a couple, played by Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea, in an old isolated town that has a scary jungle nearby. The scream of the ghost was scariest all of. How can you forget this scene below that gave you sleepless nights?

This one movie has been our guilty pleasure, you¡¯ll have to agree. We have all watched it more than once, haven¡¯t we? The movie which has now become a butt of jokes, didn¡¯t only have a naagin but a naag too. The revenge seeking ichchadhaari naag-naagin couple scared the living daylights out of us during our childhood, didn¡¯t it?

I actually asked my mom if Naagins exist in real life because I was fascinated with this movie. The concept of Naagins is a bit underrated in Bollywood. Sridevi was simply superb in the role. When she almost popped her eyes out and did the King Cobra dance, we all got the chills.

A popular horror movie by Ramsay Brothers, Veerana was a classic horror and erotic movie. When the tantrik baba played by Rajesh Vivek rolled his eyes, we were all hella scared. Those tacky and low-budget special effects actually worked during our childhood at least.

Have you ever had imaginary friend? The idea of this seems scary to me. But what if the imaginary friend turns out to be a ghost?
Vaatu Shastra is a story about a family who moves into their new house with son Rohan. There is a tree outside the house which is haunted by the dead. Rohan befriends a kid, which is actually a ghost who lives on the tree. Only Rohan can see him, and his family for the longest time thinks he has an imaginary friend. Just imagine the nightmares when your family wouldn¡¯t believe all of it. Vaastu Shastra starred Sushmita Sen as Rohan¡¯s mother.
Fun Fact: Did you know the kid in the movie is actually a girl? No one knew until the secret was revealed later on after she acted in movies like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Friend Ganesha and Phoonk.?
#9?Raat
Raat was again a Ram Gopal Varma directorial, which was considered to be at par with the Ramsay Brothers movies. This was one classic movie that managed to give us sleepless nights.?Revathi, who played the role of a girl possessed by a spirit in a haunted house that she has recently shifted to, gave a stellar performance that still gives us nightmares for real.?
#10?Papi Gudia
Did Chucky scare you to death??Papi Gudia was another one that left us horrified. You know your childhood is ruined when the dolls you got to play with start to scare the hell out of you. This unofficial remake of Child's Play starred Karisma Kapoor in a lead role.?
Fun fact:? A lot of people were reminded of this movie when a company decided to sell dolls that looked like Saif-Kareena's toddler Taimur.?

This one was a sequel to Darna Mana Hai. This was a perfect kids horror movie. When five children take shelter in haunted house, they encounter an old woman who tells them, not one but, six horror tales. Each of them were gripping yet terrifying.

Ram Gopal Varma gave Hindi cinema a lot of scary horror movies. Bhoot was one of them. Although the story was cliched, the sound effects in the movie added more eeriness?to it. There were a lot of scream-out-loud moments. There was a sequel called Bhoot returns as well.?
