Amaran OTT release: Sivakarthikeyan¡¯s recently released biographical drama is having a dream run at the box office. The Rajkumar Periasamy directorial has grossed over Rs 263 crore globally and is not stopping anytime soon. However, its nearing OTT release date has left exhibitors worried about their window collection.
While Netflix has not officially announced Amaran¡¯s release date, it was reported by multiple sources that the war drama will start to stream by the end of November or maximum by the first week of December. However, after experiencing such a massive footfall in Amaran¡¯s show, the Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitors Association has written a letter to the makers.
The exhibitors addressed a November 13 letter to Sivakarthikeyan, producer Raaj Kamal Films International, and distributor Red Giant Movies and congratulated them on the movie¡¯s success at the box office. This was followed by their wholesome request to postpone the OTT release of Amaran by at least 8 weeks.
A part of their statement read, "As veterans of the trade, we believe you would take a favourable decision in the best interest of the film as well as the industry as a whole to extend the theatrical exclusivity of the film. This would sweeten the box office success of the film as well as set an example for future films and boost the trade.¡± The team of Amaran is yet to respond or decide on the request.
