Starring Fawad Khan and Sana Saeed, Pakistan's TV series Barzakh, which started streaming in July, will be withdrawn from Youtube Pakistan after August 9, 2024. Wondering what went wrong? It is not the falling TRP of the show that led to this decision by the maekrs but the criticism from Pakistani audiences for its portrayal of queer love. The show has sparked controversy all over social media. The makers have released a statement announcing the show's last date.
According to the statement by the makers, Barzakh will be withdrawn from "YouTube Pakistan, effective August 9, 2024." They said the decision has been taken to "honour our audiences without causing alienation."
In the third episode of Barzakh, Saifullah (played by Fawad M. Khan) almost kisses another character named Lorendo in the show, played by actor Franco Giusti. The moment after the episode aired, a section of the audience called out the scene and asked to ban the show as soon as possible.?
Since Pakistan is an Islamic country, a portion of its audience has criticised the fact that the show is endorsing LGBTQIA+ themes. Islam does not support LGBTQIA+ thoughts and themes.

Why's so hard to understand that it's a fictional show promoting life mysteries, enduring power of love and afterlife WHY ARE PEOPLE SO WEIRD MAN."
Another user wrote, "It's #Barzakh day for the last time <3 Eternal hopefulness of the blank canvas."
One user who loved the concept, appreciated the team behind the show and wrote,"#Barzakh is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing this magical story with us #AsimAbbasi and team."
