Bottle Radha OTT Release: This Guru Somasundaram and Sanchana Natarajan¡¯s comedy-drama arrived in theatres on 24th January 2025. Written and directed by Dhinakaran Sivalingam, the film was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Malayalam and opened to positive reviews at the box office. Within less than a month of its theatrical premiere, Bottle Radha is ready to stream on Aha soon.
Radha Mani (Guru) is a mason by trade, but his life is consumed by a constant battle with alcoholism that dominates most of his day. His wife, Anjalam (Sanchana), and their two children are left to endure the harsh realities of his addiction, struggling to survive in their already difficult, lower-class life.
One day, Radha finds himself in a rehabilitation and de-addiction centre, but instead of finding peace, his frustration only grows as he longs to escape. What follows next is a turmoil of emotions with a perfect balance of humour.
Produced by Pa. Ranjith under Neelam Productions in association with T. N. Arunbalaji of Balloon Pictures, this Sean Roldan musical is cinematographed by Roopesh Shaji and edited by E. Sangathamizhan. Other than Guru and Sanchana, Bottle Radha also stars John Vijay, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Merku Thodarchi Malai Antony, Pari Elavazhagan, Arumugavel, Abhi Ramaiyah, J.P. Kumar, K.S. Karuna Prasad, Malathi Ashok Nawin, Suhasini Sanjeev and Siranjivi among others.
The Times of India rated the movie 2.5 out of 5 and a part of their review read, ¡°Bottle Radha exists in an awkward space between social tract and cinema ¡ª its documentary-like fidelity to addiction¡¯s realities and institutional reform sits uneasily alongside its dramatic ambitions. The film¡¯s raw portrayal of dependency and recovery commands attention, yet its insistence on spelling out every moral lesson betrays a lack of faith in its audience¡¯s intelligence.¡±
