Preparing for roles on screen is not as easy as it might seem. From perfecting the tone of the character to undergoing physical changes to fit the role, there is a lot that an artist has to do to get the job done. Jaideep Ahlawat recently underwent a dramatic physical transformation and intense training for his newest Netflix feature, Maharaj. Jaideep posted before-and-after pictures of his transformation on Instagram, sharing how in just five months his weight went from 109.7 kg to 83 kg!
Taking to his Instagram page, Jaideep wrote, ¡°From 109.7 Kg. to 83 Kg. in 5 months. That¡¯s the Physical Transformation for the Role of Maharaj. Thank you Prajwal Sir for believing in me @prajwal7542.¡±
Reacting to the post, one wrote, ¡°Uffff.. He bhagwan... Bhaiya, aap kuch bhi kar sakte ho, pakki baat hai.¡±
Another added, ¡°Ye to chamatkar ho gya.¡±
A third went on to add, ¡°Sir you never fail to inspire us.¡±
Richa Chadha on the other hand wrote "badiya" and Sidharth commented, ¡°Amazing bhai .¡±
The movie Maharaj is based on a 2013 book by Gujarati author Saurabh Shah about the historic 1862 libel lawsuit brought by a prominent Vaishnavite leader, Jadunathji, against social reformer Karsandas Mulji, who had written against sexual exploitation by the Maharaj.

In the film, Maharaj Jaideep Ahlawat appears as godman Jadunath Maharaj, who forces his female followers to carry out the custom of "charan seva."
Maharaj, which had been set to premiere on June 14, was postponed after the High Court prohibited Netflix from broadcasting it. This happened in response to a court case filed by a group of businessmen who claimed the movie might offend the Vaishnav community's religious sensibilities.?
