Mononoke The Movie: The Phantom in the Rain OTT release date has been fixed. The movie which is much-anticipated will be released on OTT platform Netflix in a few days. The Goblin Cat part of the animated horror anthology Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, which debuted on Fuji TV's noitaminA block in 2006, served as the inspiration for the Mononoke series. Mononoke The Movie: The Phantom in the Rain will be released on Netflix on 28th November 2024.
Netflix claims that the sympathetic tale explores universal issues that are still relevant today, like the difficulty of having to deny one's uniqueness in order to fit in, as well as the desires and burdens that churn inside the head.
The film's narrative centers on the mononoke, an apparition formed when strong human emotions combine with a supernatural spirit. The Medicine Seller is a mystery figure who shows up when these spirits begin to cause odd disruptions that hurt humans.
The creative team behind the project includes Director Kenji Nakamura, with character design by Kitsuneko Nagata and animation character design/chief animation direction led by Yuichi Takahashi. Art setting is handled by Yoichi Katoono, while art direction is managed by Akira Kuramoto and Yoko Saito under the supervision of Takashi Kurahashi. Color design is by Kunio Tsujita, and the visual direction is overseen by Yoichi Senzui.
The cast includes Hiroshi Kamiya, Tomoyo Kurosawa, Aoi Yuki, Mami Koyama, Kana Hanazawa, and Haruka Tomatsu.
