Oru Jaathi Jathakam OTT Release Date: Vineeth Sreenivasan recently headlined a Malayalam movie which received mixed reviews from the audiences. Directed by M. Mohanan, this romantic comedy arrived in theatres on 31st January this year. After a long wait, Oru Jaathi Jathakam is finally ready to stream on OTT and not on one but two platforms simultaneously.
Oru Jaathi Jathakam will be streaming on ManoramaMAX and Amazon Prime Video starting March 14, 2025.
Written by Rakesh Mantodi, Oru Jaathi Jathakam is bankrolled by Maha Subair under the banner of Varnachithra Big Screen. This Guna Balasubramanian musical is cinematographed by Viswajith Odukkathil and edited by Ranjan Abraham.
Oru Jaathi Jathakam follows the story of Jayesh, a 38-year-old man from North Malabar, who is desperately seeking a wife but is stuck in his old-fashioned views about marriage. He continuously rejects potential brides because none of them meet his traditional expectations. His life takes a strange turn when a palm reader predicts that this period will be the worst of his life and warns him that he will face ridicule and trouble ahead.
As Jayesh encounters a series of challenges and meets several women along the way, he begins to confront his narrow mindset and realize the flaws in his thinking.?
The Times of India rated the film 2.5 out of 5 and a part of their review read, ¡°OJJ feels like one of those Dileep films of the ¡®90s with body shaming and misogynistic jokes, with the difference that the joke is on the guy. The problem is that the film labours the point with old-fashioned humour, that doesn¡¯t always click. It has some lighthearted, good moments, and lessons, but the second half just stretches out endlessly. This film feels a bit old-fashioned, like Jayesh¡¯s views.¡±
Other than Vineeth, the film also starred Nikhila Vimal, Babu Antony, Kayadu Lohar, Isha Talwar, Pooja Mohanraj, Mridul Nair, Sayanora Philip, P. P. Kunhikrishnan, Vidhu Prathap, Ranji Kankol, Amal Thaha, Indu Thampi, Rejitha Madhu, Chippy Devassy, Varsha Ramesh, Arvind Reghu, Sivadas Kannur, Sarath Sabha, Haritha Parokkod, Shaun Romy, Nirmal Palazhi, Vijayakrishnan, Aishwarya Midhun Koroth and Anusree Ajithan among others.
