Are you someone who binged Two And A Half Men? The sitcom which spanned over 12 years remains to be one of the most watched shows in the history of Television.?
The two men and the little dude kept us entertained with their antics for 12 seasons. Did you know the former child actor Angus T. Jones who played the role of Jake Harper quit the acting industry after Two And A Half Men.?
For the unversed, Jones made his acting debut at the age of five. Interestingly, his first role was in the 1999 film Simpatico. Four years later, he landed his first big role in the CBS sitcom alongside Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen.
Playing Jake, AlanĄ¯s son, he went on to star in 226 episodes. However, in 2013, he quit the role for good while the show went on for another two years. In the finale of Two And A Half Men, Angus made a special appearance.
After winning several Young Artist Awards for his role as Jake, Jones' acting career appeared boundless. At that time, he was the highest-paid child actor in Hollywood, earning approximately $300,000 per episode (Rs 1.9 crore approx).
Despite the wealth and fame, Jones eventually chose to step away from acting to pursue higher education at the University of Colorado. Reflecting on his decision to leave the industry in a 2014 interview with US news station KHOU, Jones admitted that he felt like a 'hypocrite' for participating in a show that made light of real-life issues.
"It was making light of topics in our world that are really problems for a lot of people," he told the outlet.
"I was a paid hypocrite because I wasnĄ¯t OK with it, but I was still doing it."
That wasnĄ¯t all, Jones also joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, a socially conservative sect of christianity. In his religious videos, he called out his show Two And A Half Men and encouraged people to boycott it as he felt the series was ĄŽfilthĄ¯.
Following backlash over his comments, Jones later addressed the controversy in a statement to Us Weekly. He expressed his "highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and a Half Men," clarifying that it was never his intention to convey "indifference" or "disrespect" toward his former colleagues.
"I apologise if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed," he added.
The 30-year-old actor then made his comeback to showbiz in 2023. He appeared as a guest star in Bookie and reunited with his former co-star, Charlie Sheen.
