Wayward OTT Release Date: If you know Mae Martin from their heartfelt rom-com Feel Good or the witty stand-up special SAP, get ready for something completely different. With their new Netflix series Wayward, Mae is stepping into darker, moodier territory that¡¯s set to take us to a town that¡¯s anything but peaceful. Wayward premieres September 25 on Netflix, and here¡¯s everything you need to know about it.
Wayward is an eight-episode limited series set in a seemingly beautiful town that hides dark secrets beneath its calm surface. At the heart of the show is a disturbing look into the ¡°troubled teen industry¡±, those institutions and programs meant to ¡°fix¡± young people, but often do more harm than good.
The series explores the emotional tension between generations: the adults who think they know best and the younger ones caught in their control. It's a psychological thriller layered with moments of dark comedy, drama, and social commentary.
This chilling story comes with a powerful ensemble cast. Expect to see Mae Martin (Feel Good) alongside Toni Collette (Pieces of Her, Hereditary), Sarah Gadon (Alias Grace), Brandon Jay McLaren (The Killing, Graceland), Patrick J. Adams (Suits), Sydney Topliffe, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Joshua Close and Patrick Gallagher among others.
Behind the scenes, Wayward is in very capable hands. Mae Martin and Ryan Scott serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Euros Lyn, known for directing Heartstopper, is directing and executive producing. Additional executive producers include Ben Farrell (Objective Fiction), Hannah Mackay, Jennifer Kawaja, and Bruno Dub¨¦ (Sphere Media). Renuka Jeyapalan and John Fawcett are also on board as directors.
