The Last of Us season 2 has only one episode left before the season finale, and fans are anticipating a thrilling end to the chapter. The show was renewed for a third season even before the second one concluded. So yes, the story doesn¡¯t end now but whether it will end with the third season is a question many fans of the Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey show are asking. Here¡¯s everything we know so far about what Craig Mazin has said regarding the show¡¯s future.
Craig Mazin recently talked about the future of the project saying that they won¡¯t be able to finish the story with the third season.?
In an interview with Collider, he said, ¡°Yeah, and it would take forever. There are natural perforations in the narrative where you can go, ¡°Okay, let¡¯s tear it here.¡± I think there¡¯s a decent chance that Season 3 will be longer than Season 2, just because the manner of that narrative and the opportunities it affords us are a little different. The thing about Joel¡¯s death is that it¡¯s so impactful. It¡¯s such a narrative nuclear bomb that it¡¯s hard to wander away from it.¡±
Craig Mazin shared that season 3 of The Last of Us may provide more creative flexibility than the previous seasons. He noted that while season 1 allowed for a standalone episode like the Bill and Frank story, season 2 didn¡¯t have the space for such narrative detours due to its tighter pacing. Looking ahead, Mazin believes season 3 might offer more breathing room for storytelling. However, he made it clear that the overall plot won¡¯t be wrapped up in season 3 alone. He expressed optimism that the show would be able to continue into a fourth season, which he considers the most likely scenario for completing the full narrative.
The Last Of Us season 3 episode 7 will be released on 26th May 2025 on JioHotstar and on 25th May on HBO.?
