The protests over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act went from bad to worse in the national capital region after violence erupted at several places on Sunday, 15 December. According to reports, Delhi Police entered the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia university without permission and beat up students and staff, Waseem Ahmed Khan, Chief Proctor of the varsity told ANI.

Joining the bandwagon of people who have expressed their opinion on the same is Hollywood superstar John Cusack.
"We believe Citizenship Amendment Bill is discriminatory and it violates the constitutional values. We don't accept this bill and if it becomes a law we shall boycott its execution. We pledge not to submit any documents if asked to prove our citizenship," he has said in the video.
