Vijay Devarakonda and Ananya Panday's much-anticipated film Liger has finally been released in theatres on Aug 25. The first reviews of the Karan Johar-produced movie are out and fans have given the film mixed reactions. Amid the boycott trend, the movie has been released in multiple languages -?Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada - simultaneously.?
A tweet read, "VD tried his best and body transformation is great but his stammering is annoying. Heroine track is awful. Other than a few moments, Nothing else to mention.?Puris biggest strength is the hero characterization and dialogues but in this movie he went completely over the top and it goes into the cringe zone. Tysons character is ridiculous. This is not a movie for VD to enter the Pan India market. Bad Choice".
Another one said, "Other than VD¡¯s physical transformation, film has no plus. Horrible perf from Ananya. No villain character (Puri is d villain). 1st Hlf is atleast Bearable, 2nd Hlf is total crap. Forced Mike Tyson Climax sticks out. Full of Outdated scenes. WORST!"? ??

"One word review:- Excellent One of the best movies related to journey of a wrestler and fight scenes were so classic. #VijayDevarakonda as usual nailed his role in movie. #MikeTyson played an excellent role.#AnanyaPanday was so hot and pretty," read another tweet.
"@purijagan should realise, his lead character showing middle finger on screen is not attitude. Most of his dialogues are summary of his musings. Finally, #PuriJagannadh is following footsteps of his Guru #RGV, by making cringe movies," wrote a user.
After what happened with Laal Singh Chaddha and Anurag Kashyap's Dobaaraa - which saw low occupancy in theatres especially on the day it released - it remains to be seen if Liger's box office performance is affected by the boycott trend.?
Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda said that the team had been expecting a bit of drama.?"With Liger we expected a bit of drama... but we'll fight. We've put our heart into making this film. And I believe that I am correct. I feel that there is no room for fear, when I had nothing, I didn't fear, and now after having achieved something, I don't think there needs to be any fear even now," he was quoted as saying by ANI.
He concluded by saying,?"Maa ka aashirwaad hai, Logon ka pyaar hai, Bhagwaan ka haath hai, andar aag hai, Kaun rokenge dekh lenge!"
Also starring Mike Tyson and Ramya Krishnan, Liger is?directed by Puri Jagannadh and jointly produced by Karan Johar, Charmme Kaur, Apoorva Mehta, Hiroo Yash Johar and Puri Jagannadh under the banners of Dharma Productions and Puri Connects.
