Pakistani film ¡®The Legend of Maula Jatt¡¯ is ready to become one of the most successful films in Pakistan. Starring the country¡¯s superstar Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, the film has crossed over Rs 200 crores in earnings.
Recently, reports were suggesting that this Bilal Lashari-helmed film will soon have an Indian release. Amidst this, a leader from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued a public threat to the distributors and audiences of this film.??
Ameya tweeted, ¡°There are plans to release Pakistani actor Fawad Khan¡¯s Pakistani film ¡® The Legend of Maula Jatt¡¯ in India. It is most infuriating that an Indian company is leading this plan. Following Raj Saheb¡¯s orders we will not let this film release anywhere in India.¡± He added, ¡°Fawad Khan¡¯s fans, traitors may very well go to Pakistan and watch the film.¡±
The Legend of Maula Jatt is one of the highest-budget movies in Pakistani film history. It is an unofficial remake of the Pakistani classic film Maula Jatt (1979) which was itself an unsaid sequel to 1975¡¯s Wehshi Jatt. The film¡¯s story is focused legendary rivalry between Noori Natt played by Hamza Ali Abbasi, the brutal gang leader, and local hero Maula Jatt.
Regarding the film¡¯s Indian release, a source close to Bollywood Hungama reported last week, ¡°The Legend Of Maula Jatt is expected to release in cinema halls in India on December 23. Zee Studios has backed the film and are working towards making sure it happens. A clearer picture will emerge in the next week as to whether the film will make it in cinemas, and whether it will release on December 23 or some other date.¡±
Mahira on the other hand appeared as a lead in Shah Rukh Khan¡¯s Raess in 2017.?The last two weekends of December will face a lot of clashes. Reportedly three Bengali films ¨C Haami 2, Projapoti and Hatyapuri who are seeing a tremendous uproaring buzz will also be released on December 23. Meanwhile, in Assam, Zubeen Garg starrer Rajneeti Part - 1 is parallelly ready to give tough competition.
Interestingly, Ranveer Singh-Rohit Shetty¡¯s Cirkus also releases on the same day. An industry expert remarked, ¡°Already, the clash for screens has begun between Cirkus and Avatar: The Way Of Water, which releases on December 16. Now that The Legend Of Maula Jatt might also jump into the fray, it¡¯ll be interesting to see how things unfold.¡±
