With Sarfira, Akshay Kumar's eagerly awaited movie, he carries on his legacy of playing real-life individuals. Captain GR Gopinath's inspirational life is the focus of Sarfira, the Hindi adaptation of Sudha Kongara's Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which starred Suriya. Radhika Madan and Seema Biswas play important parts in Sarfira as well. Suriya will feature in the movie as a guest too.
Sarfira real story
In Sarfira, Akshay portrays Captain GR Gopinath, an Ex-army officer in charge who established Air Deccan, the country's first low-cost airline which enabled the general public to travel by air. According to the Free Press Journal, the film centers on Gopinath's rise from a humble upbringing, his time in the Indian Army, how his business endeavors made him one of the most recognisable names in the aviation industry, and the founding of Air Deccan.
GR Gopinath enlisted and was a captain in the Indian Army. He took part in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 as well.
He got into a number of businesses after leaving the service, such as motorcycle sales and farming. But the introduction of Air Deccan in 2003 was his most notable contribution.
Other low-cost airlines were also encouraged to enter the market by Air Deccan's entry into the market.

Chatting with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus about Sarfira, Akshay Kumar said, ¡°There are many things in the film which I could relate to. This character lost his father, the trauma he went through¡ When that scene was happening, to be honest, I went into that kind of trauma, when I lost my father. I don¡¯t use glycerin to cry, I use my own emotions to cry. When you see the film, I¡¯m really crying.¡±

Sarfira will be released on 12th July 2024 in theatres.
