“Main Hun, Tu Chinta Kyu Karti Hai?”, Satish Kaushik Once Offered To Marry Pregnant Neena Gupta

Popular actor and director Satish Kaushik left for his heavenly abode in the late hours of 8th March 2023. His sudden death shook the entire nation and several celebrities took to social media and shared their condolences. Neena and Satish worked together in Kundan Shah’s 1983 hit Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

In her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh which was released a few years back, Neena Gupta recalled the time when she was unmarried and pregnant with cricketer Viv Richards’ child, it was her good friend Kaushik who was there for her. Satish even offered her to marry him and pass on her child Masaba as his.

Satish then told Neena, “Don’t worry, if the child is born with dark skin, you can just say it’s mine and we’ll get married. Nobody will suspect a thing.”

After Neena’s book was released, Satish in an interview talked about the incident and revealed being friends with the Badhaai Ho actress since 1975. He shared that his proposal of marriage was certainly because Satish didn’t want to make Neena feel alone. “I was concerned about not letting her feel alone. At the end of the day, that’s what friends are for, right?,” he told Bombay Times.

“I used to appreciate the fact that a girl at that time decided to have a child out of wedlock. As a true friend, I simply stood by her and gave her confidence. Whatever you are reading in the memoir, it was all an expression of my affection for her as a friend. As mentioned in the book, when I offered to marry her, it was a mix of humour, concern, respect, and support for my best friend in her time of need.”?

He further added, “I told her, ‘Main hoon na, tu chinta kyu karti hai (I am here for you, you don’t have to worry)’. She was moved by the gesture and was in tears. From that day onwards, our friendship grew stronger.” Where Satish eventually married Shashi Kaushik in 1985; Neena is settled with Vivek Mehra since 2008.

On the work front, Neena will be next seen in Rani Mukherji starrer Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway and Satish’s last stint on the big screen will be Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency.
