In his 15-minute conversation with journalist Richard Quest, Shah Rukh Khan bared his heart out. From talking about delivering a string of flops to sharing how he claimed his throne back, the King of Bollywood, known for his excellent oratory skills, left the audience in awe at the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai.?

On delivering Massive Flops -
Shah Rukh Khan discussed his career before he made a comeback with Pathaan. On delivering flops one after the other, he said that he was "licking his wounds" and was learning "how to make the best pizza in the world."?
"I had massive flops, and they did very, very badly. I was licking my wounds. But you know what I did? I learnt to make the best pizza in the world. I stopped listening to stories, I stopped wanting to tell stories, I made myself a little kitchen, and I started learning how to make pizzas." he said.
He added that he stopped listening to stories and stopped wanting to tell stories. Remember Shah Rukh Khan baked a pizza for model Navpreet Kaur who got to spend an evening at Mannat?
On learning perseverance -
During his low phase, he said, baking a pizza also taught him perseverance. "To make the perfect pizza, it takes millions of square pizzas before you're able to make it round."?
What encouraged Shah Rukh Khan to return to film -
"I was glad that my family didn¡¯t tell me, 'Listen, your pizzas are better than your films, stop making films.' I'm glad that they turned around and said, 'As good as your pizzas are, your films are better'. They were very encouraging, especially my children and my team. I'd become indulgent. I'd started becoming too innovative. I was looking for perfection, and I started failing. I needed to be excellent, I needed to be unique, but I needed to look at what the audience wanted," he said.
On ending his career -
He also said, "I want to end my career, which is far from ending right now. I have another good 35 years to go."
On crossover to Hollywood -
"I know many people from the American and the English film industries. But nobody has offered me good work and I wondered if I was spreading myself too thin. I was offered Slumdog Millionaire, but I felt that the role of the game show host was too mean," he said and added that he want to make an international movie. "And then nobody on a big stage like this could ask me why haven't I crossed over. That film should cross me over." He said this in in reference to the question of the interviewer who asked him as to when will he make a crossover with the west.
On not hearing what audience wanted from him -
"I used to go where there were thousands and lakhs of people waving at me, but I wouldn't hear or feel what they wanted to see out of me. So I went and did a film about a vertically challenged guy, I did a film about a manic, psychopathic fan, but no, people just like to see me giving hope and happiness and love, so let¡¯s get back to that," he said.
On playing James Bond -
When asked if he would like to play James Bond, SRK said, "I really wanted to, but I think I am too short... But I am brown enough to play the Bond baddie.
Last year, Shah Rukh Khan did what the audience wanted to see him do on the big screen and he delivered three back to back hits - Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki.?
