Today, the whole of India is in celebratory mode, thanks to five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra comprising Justices D Y Chandrachud, Rohinton Fali Nariman, A M Khanwilkar and Indu Malhotra, who have collectively decriminalized Section 377 that considers sexual activities between homosexuals ‘against the order of nature’.

Nearly six weeks after the apex court had reserved its verdict on the decriminalization of homosexuality under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the top court today pronounced its judgement.

“LGBT Community has same rights as of any ordinary citizen. Respect for each other's rights and others are supreme humanity. Criminalizing gay sex is irrational and indefensible”, observes CJI Dipak Misra, reported news agency ANI.
