Currently, Jyotika, a well-known actress in the South Indian film industry, is preparing for the release of her upcoming release, Dabba Cartel. Jyotika recently talked candidly about encountering sexism because she is married to star Suriya. The actress stated how till date she faces all of it every now and then. Here¡¯s what she said:?
Jyotika talked candidly about how she frequently experiences discrimination as Suriya's wife and a woman in an interview with News18.?She said, ¡°It seems like an everyday thing. I¡¯m married to a superstar. So, I face it every now and then, till date. I see it happening even during interviews.¡±
?Jyotika discussed the casual sexism she experiences on a daily basis, emphasising how gender-based views frequently differ. She clarified that when she says she feels fortunate to have married Suriya, people just accept that he is a decent man. However, Suriya's statement that he is lucky to have married a wonderful woman is presented as an instance of his generosity and gratitude for his wife. By giving the example of how someone else is expected to press the button and examine the characteristics of a car even if she purchased it herself, she also demonstrated how gender biases extend to materialistic issues. There are innumerable examples of casual misogyny she could cite, she said, adding that such experiences have grown commonplace.
She went on to add,? ¡°Sometimes, it reaches a level where you may have an identity crisis. A woman¡¯s search for her identity also nudges one to take a lot of decisions and make choices on their own. That¡¯s also how I chose my career path.¡±?
Dabba Cartel, written by Vishnu Menon and Bhavna Kher and directed by Hitesh Bhatia, centers on five middle-class women whose dabba business takes an extraordinary turn into a narcotics cartel. Dabba Cartel will be released on Netflix on 28th February 2025.?
