Reportedly, Karim Lala had met Indira Gandhi only once when he tagged along with a Padma Bhushan awardee and musician Harindranath Chattopadhyay.
Who was Karim Lala??
Born as Abdul Karim Sher Khan in AfghanistanĄ¯s Kunar province, Lala was an underworld don who was infamous for his liquor dens, gambling and extortion rackets from '60s to early '80s.
He was the leader of Pathan Gang that reigned over Mumbai at that time.
What was Karim Lala's connection with Gangubai??
Lala was Gangubai's rakhi brother. It is said that when she was raped, she reached out to him, who in turn thrashed her rapist.?
