Akshay Kumar who used to regularly get trolled and called Canada Kumar because of his Canadian passport has cast his first vote in Lok Sabha Elections 2024 after getting Indian citizenship last year. As he cast his vote, he spoke to the reporters and motivated the people of India to exercise their right to vote. x
After casting his vote for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Akshay Kumar said, "I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. People should vote for what they deem is right... I think voter turnout will be good. I was here at 7 am when the polling booth opened and I saw nearly 500-600 people inside."

About casting his first vote, he said, "I feel great, amazing" and flaunted the ink on his finger. When asked if he had to wait in the queue, he joked, "So what should I do? Break the line and move ahead?"
Akshay used to get massively trolled for his Canadian citizenship. So much so, that?Apurva Asrani once questioned his eligibility for National Award win.?Akshay had once revealed that his 14 films flopped in a row. That is when he thought of leaving Indian and becoming a full-time chef in Canada. However, two of his unreleased films changed his fate forever and he stayed back and became one of the most bankable stars of India. "A few years ago, my films were not working.?Almost 14-15 films had not worked so I thought I should probably move elsewhere and work there. A lot of people move there (Canada) for work, but they are still Indians. So I also thought that if destiny is not supporting me here then I should do something about it. I went there, applied for it (the citizenship) and got it," he said in an interview with The Lallantop.?
Akshay had also clarified that despite having a Canadian citizenship, he pays his taxes in India and will always be an Indian first. Since then, Akshay has never even thought of leaving India and moving to Canada.?He added, "I have a (Canadian) passport. What is a passport? It is a document used to travel from one country to another. See I am an Indian, I pay all my taxes and pay them here. I have a choice to pay it there as well but I pay them in my country. I work in my country. A lot of people say things and they are allowed to. To them, I would just like to say that I am an Indian, and I will always be an Indian".
