Bollywood actress?Kriti Sanon who celebrated her 34th birthday recently has been making headlines for reasons more than one. First, she was spotted partying with her rumored boyfriend?Kabir Bahia, the millionaire hier who is close friends with MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya in?Greek island of Mykonos. And then, a video of hers in which she was allegedly caught smoking went viral on social media.?
While a lot of people dissed the controversial video saying it was an invasion of privacy saying, "People smoke so what? why is that an issue? She is on vacation, she can do anything she wants that is not illegal", several others remembered her mother Geeta Sanon's old tweet in which she claimed that her daughter has "always been anti-smoking."
This tweet dates back to 2017 when Kriti's film?Bareilly Ki Barfi, also starring?Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, was released. A picture of the actress in which she is holding a cigarette close to her mouth had gone viral. A fan account had then clarified that she smoked for a movie and that people should put false accusations against her.?

Commenting on this fan tweet, Kriti Sanon's mother Geeta Sanon wrote, "She has always been anti-smoking and used to ask people around her to leave smoking. (sic)"
Even Kriti herself had clarified that she is not someone who smokes or endorses the habit. However, she was made to smoke for her movie and she hated doing that. As quoted by Deccan Chronicle in 2017, she said, "I have always been anti-smoking. I never wanted to smoke. I did not like it even after doing it. But it was something that I had to do for the character. I didn¡¯t want it to look fake, so I had to do it the right way. I could have opted just to do a mouth fag, but it wouldn¡¯t have looked good on screen. When it comes to smokers, they can easily find out whether a person is actually smoking it or not. There are certain small nuances like how a person is holding a cigarette etc., that can also be spotted easily."
Furthermore, talking about her character in the film who smoked she said, "Smoking is not good for health and should be avoided. I am a non-smoker, but the point we want to make is that girls who smoke, who are fond of body art or break into a jig are not characterless." She added that the society judges women who smoke but they never tag men who smoke as characterless.?
Last seen in Crew, Kriti Sanon will next be seen in?Do Patti, which also stars co-stars Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh.
