The complaint has been filed for allegedly using his photograph in the series without his permission. The original photo featured UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. However, the one used in the show has been morphed.?
He has also accused the makers of the show of of stirring communal tension. The complaint states that CBI have been shown in a bad light. He has demanded a ban on the show.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Manjinder Singh Sirsa has objected to the scene showing a sikh man raping a woman while another man is watching. He says Sikh characters are shown in bad light in Paatal Lok. He has demanded Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar to look into the matter.
Sikkim MP Indra Hang Subb has also written to I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar regarding a sexist slur being used in the show. In his complaint, he said that more than 10.5 million people in India speak Nepali and they have been affected by the scene.
¡°We strongly condemn it in toughest terms and seek immediate removal of the scene¡¯s subtitles and mute the slur. This is not just regressive but also racist stereotyping of Northeast people, in particular the Gorkhas,¡± the complaint read as per PTI.
According to The Quint, Viren Sri Gurung, who is a member of the Lawyers Guild, has sent the legal notice to the actor.
