It is not always easy to speak about such incidents. It often brings the trauma back to the present. Not only that, people often feel ashamed to talk about such incidents, even though sexual assault is not the victim's fault.?
Saanand Verma in a recent interview bravely opened up about the terrible memory that gave him a lot of pain. He had gone to play cricket when the incident took place. He was 13 years old at that time. "It happened to me once, during a cricket match. When I was 13, I desperately wanted to be a cricketer. I went to a cricket training academy in Patna, Bihar. There, a big guy tried to exploit me. I was extremely scared and ran away. Since then, I have stayed away from cricket," he was quoted as saying by Times Now.
Although the incident left him with a deep scar on his soul, Saanand Verma said that it also made him strong. "Whatever happened to me in my childhood is definitely a terrible memory, many terrible things have happened to me before. When a person has endured so much suffering, no other pain matters to them."
When asked about the casting couch and if it exists in the industry, the actor who has also appeared on shows like FIR and CID said that he had been lucky and never experienced that so far. However, he said, "Many of my colleagues have told me about their painful experiences, which should never happen."
Besides TV shows like Laapataganj and Gupp Chupp, Saanand Verma has also been a part of films like Raid, Mardaani, Chhichhore and Mission Raniganj among others.
