Ever since the first teaser of Adipurush has been released, people are highly disappointed. While some of them are finding the VFX Cartoonish, there are others who think Ayan Mukerji did a better job with Brahmastra. Many are also not happy with the looks of Raavana and Lord Rama - essayed by Saif Ali Khan and Prabhas.?
In the midst of this all, BJP has slammed Adipurush director Om Raut for the "misinterpretation" of Ramayan - especially the way the character of Raavana has been portrayed.?
Even the fans are disappointed with Saif's look -- particularly because of how he looks. While some said that he looks for like Allaudin Khilji, others said that he looked like invader Taimur.?

Talking to ANI, she said, "I am saddened by the fact that the director let alone researching the Valmiki's Ramayana, Kamba Ramayana or Tulsidasa's Ramayana, or the umpteen numbers of interpretations of Ramayana that are available across board as far as Thailand where they do beautiful performances of the Ramayana. The least he could have done is gone back and researched our own films; there are so many Kannada films, Telugu films, Tamil films, which show how Raavana looked."

She added, "He could have just looked up NT Rama Rao or Dr Rajkumar in Bhookailasa or any of these great actors, SV Ranga Rao in Sampoorna Ramayana, to understand how Raavana looked. The Raavana in the photograph that I see floating around is a guy who looks nothing Indian, who has blue eye makeup and is wearing leather jackets. This is our history they are representing; they cannot do it in the guise of creative liberty."
Malavika says Ramayana represents "who we were"? and "its civilisation and its people. So no one can take it for granted, let alone a film director. I am angry and I am saddened by this misrepresentation."
He clarified, "I¡¯ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused controversy and hurt people¡¯s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologize to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions."
Furthermore, several questions have also been raised on the representation of Pushpak aircraft, which in the teaser looks like a mutated bat.?
Also starring Kriti Sanon as Sita, Adipurush is slated to hit the screens on Jan 12, 2023.
