Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against the three farm-related bills for weeks now. The protests are only intensifying, especially after protesting farmers were lathi-charged in Haryana¡¯s Kurukshetra.
Opposition has labelled the the bill as anti-farmers bills. The protesting farmers say that the new legislation will only curb the market for small peasants.?
"I am an actor and a singer later, I am son of a farmer first. Now that the bill is being passed, the dreams of many people will die with it, so I urge everyone to unite and oppose this bill. Regardless of which party you belong to, let's put politics aside and come together, let's fight for rights. Peace, Love, Respect," wrote Ammy Virk.
Diljit clarified to his fans that he doesn't support any political party and is neither interested in politics. He said he is touched by the state of the farmers as he also belongs to a farmer family.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday has stated that the bills will act as a "protection shield" for farmers and those opposing the bills are "deceiving" and "lying" to farmers.
"Farmers have been given new independence in agriculture. They'll now have more options and opportunities to sell their produce. I congratulate them on passage of Bills. It was necessary to bring these to protect them from middlemen. These are farmers' shields," PM Modi said.
Here's why farmers across India are protesting against the bills passed by Lok Sabha.
