Filmmaker Siddharth Anand's Indian adaptation of Bang Bang, which is an official remake of the Hollywood espionage thriller Knight and Day, became a huge box office hit. But Shahid Kapoor was first offered the lead role in the film. The directors had intended to pair Shahid Kapoor with Katrina Kaif, but he chose to do Haider, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, instead, according to Times of India.
Rockstar, a musical love drama directed by Imtiaz Ali, became a tremendous hit and catapulted Ranbir Kapoor's career to fame. The filmmaker initially offered Shahid Kapoor the film along with Jab We Met. Regretfully, Kapoor was only given the choice of one script, and he chose the second one.
