Hamare Baarah star Aditi Dhiman on getting different threats: 'They thought it's against the community'
Actress Aditi Dhiman is set to debut in the film Hamare Baarah, directed by Kamal Chandra. However, the film's release has been halted by the Supreme Court due to controversy. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Aditi disclosed that the entire cast is receiving rape and death threats.
Aditi on rape threats: 'They saw the 30-second trailer & thought it's against the community'
Aditi, who plays the role of Zareen, expressed her shock, saying she never imagined that a family drama would cause such a reaction. "I just thought it's a very beautiful story of a family, talking about women's rights and giving a social message. I never thought it would take such a turn. It was very shocking for me."
The controversy centres on claims that the film contains derogatory content against Islam. Aditi believes the backlash was based on a misunderstanding of the trailer. "They saw the 30-second trailer and thought it's against the community. But it's not. It's against people who use religion to promote false propaganda. It's a story of a family, not what the trailer seemed to show."

Despite the film being set to release on June 14, the Supreme Court stayed the release, urging the Bombay High Court to decide on a petition claiming the film was disrespectful to Islam.
Aditi remains hopeful, trusting the judicial system to make a fair decision. Describing her character, Zareen, she said, "Zareen is a dreamer who wants to be a singer, but her traditional father believes women should stay home. The movie shows her struggle and journey."
Reflecting on the ban, Aditi questioned why it happened despite the film having a certificate. She urged for a fair chance to let people see the movie before making assumptions.
During the interview, Aditi revealed that the entire cast is facing threats. "I'm still receiving threats. People are using abusive language, saying they would kill and rape us. It's very disheartening. But I think as an actor, you just have to ignore it. I believe that once the movie releases, people's perceptions will change."
She remains optimistic, saying, "The critics now will be the same people who will love us once they watch the movie. I'm hopeful about it."
