Amid the global pandemic, when lives of everyone is at stake, most of us wouldn't have even imagined that such a grave crime like mob lynching can take place. Everyone is shocked.
It is said that these three men from Kandivali in Mumbai were going to Surat in car to attend a funeral when the incident took place. Their vehicle was stopped at Palghar district, and they were dragged out of their cars to be beaten to death on suspicion that they were thieves.
Bollywood actors including Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap among others have also shared their outrage.?
"Do not search for Hindu-Muslim angles in this. Read the report. Nearly 100 people have been arrested. I will condemn those who were in that crowd, but more than that I will condemn the atmosphere which has been created in this country, which is a direct result of this," Anurag Kashyap wrote on Twitter.?
"HORRIFIED AND DEEPLY DEEPLY SADDENED at the #PalgharMobLynching of three sadhus. What is going on? Why is this happening? This is the heinous crime against humanity," Anupam Kher tweeted.
"Strongly condemn the violence that took the lives of 3 people in Palghar. Mob rule should have no place in our society and I hope the murderers have been arrested and that justice is delivered swiftly," wrote Farhan Akhtar.
It is said that when police reached the spot, the tribals attacked them as well. Meanwhile, Maharashtra government has ordered high-level probe into the matter. 101 people involved in the killings have been detained.?
Furthermore, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also warned against giving any communal colour to the incident, as two of the three deceased were believed to be seers.
