Jim Carrey Sickened By Standing Ovation To Will Smith, Would Have Sued Him For $200 Million

Jim Carrey has given a very strong reaction to what happened at the Oscars this year. He said that if he was in Chris Rock's position, he would have sued Will Smith for $200 million. Not only that, he was also upset at the audience at the ceremony who watched what happened in utter shock. He said that he was sickened by the fact that Smith got a standing ovation later when he came on the stage to accept the Best Actor award.

He also called Hollywood spineless. "I was sickened. I was sickened by the standing ovation. Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we aren’t the cool club anymore."

Jim Carrey also said that if he were him in Rock’s place, he would have sued Will Smith for $200 million.?"I’d have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever, it’s going to be ubiquitous. That insult is gonna last a very long time. If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter [that’s fine].?

Carrey also told?CBS' Gayle King that Will Smith should have been arrested. "He should have been," he said in response to King who said, "If anyone else had walked from the audience and done that, they would’ve been escorted out by security or maybe even arrested".

Jim Carrey said that he feels this happened because of a moment of frustration. "It didn’t escalate, it came out of nowhere because Will has something going on inside him that’s frustrated.?I don’t have anything against Will Smith. He’s done great things. But that was not a good moment. It cast a pall over everybody’s shining moment."

Meanwhile, Chris Rock has refused to file a police complaint against Will Smith who has also posted an apology on Instagram.?
