After Bollywood Stands Against Racism In USA, Kangana Says Indian Injustices Don't Bother Them

For anyone who thought racism was dead in the world's most developed and powerful nation-United States of America, you needed a reality check. The world got that shock by witnessing George Floyd's brutal murder at the hands of not a white police officer but in fact- racism.?

When Floyd's death video went viral, massive outrage was seen on social media from all over the world. What was surprising was how our own Bollywood celebrities who barely speak on any injustice in India were condemning racism abroad.?

These celebrities and a plethora of others are voicing out against racism, talking about this grave injustice which it was and black lives clearly do matter. But why are they not courageous enough to speak against injustices on their on home soil? Slamming Bollywood celebrities is none other than Kangana Ranaut who has called out their hypocrisy.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Kangana blamed the pre-independence colonial genes and the constant need to follow Hollywood for Bollywood celebrities simply not caring about Indian issues.?

"The Sadhu lynching happened a couple of weeks ago; still no one said a word. It happened in Maharashtra where most of these celebrities reside…Bollywood anyway is a derived name from Hollywood. It is a shame they [Bollywood celebrities] continue to live in a bubble and never fail to jump on the bandwagon, which can give them two minutes of fame, but ‘white people’ must drive the bandwagon. Perhaps, it is because of their pre-independence colonial slavery genes.”

This selective outrage needs to end. If you can't stand up for your own country, how can you ethically stand up for another? It doesn't make sense.
