Kiran Bedi achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female IPS officer in India, joining the service in 1972. Prior to this, she was a national junior tennis champion and later served as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 2016 to 2021. During her tenure, she led significant reforms at Delhi¡¯s Tihar Jail, effectively combating corruption and addressing human rights abuses.
According to media reports, the objective of the biopic is to reveal lesser-known aspects of Bedi¡¯s life and her unyielding determination. Director Kushaal Chawla has described the project as a labour of love that has been in the works for over four years. Kiran Bedi has a message for aspiring officers: approach the role with purpose and missionary zeal, viewing it as a mission rather than just a job.
