The internet remembers everything. It will dig out your old comments and tweets and they can haunt you for a lifetime.?
Years after the #MeToo controversy, Tanmay Bhat has found himself in hot soup once again, courtesy his old distasteful tweets/jokes on child rape.?
Amid the backlash that the comedian got for his old tweets, Kotak Mahindra withdrew the advertisement featuring Bhat. However, his fellow comedian Kunal Kamra has come out in support of him. Now, he is getting on social media.?
Kamra was disappointed with the fact that no other comedian supported Bhat after he was removed from Kotak Mahindra bank's advertisement.?
"I can¡¯t believe no comedians are siding with victim Tanmay Bhatt he has faced so many atrocities in life & still counting. Sad day for the comedy world over. Shame on the Indian comedy scene," he said.
Soon after this, Kamra was trolled by many. He received flak for his comment.?
"This Kamra is deliberately diverging from the point raised Tanmay Bhatt did not face opposition for his ideology, political or otherwise but because he was normalising pedophilia as comedy Maybe this Kamra also believes the same about it," a comment read.?
"I have used to like Tanmay¡¯s comedy but sometime he does crosses the limit. I remember attending his sketch in Pune (High Spirits in 2012). He made really bad joke about Shiva and Parvaty. That day itself i knew he is going to get into trouble," another tweet read.?
"It's a sad day for comedy when the only thing comedians are willing to stand up for is Tanmay Bhatt. I guess 'comedy of the oppressed' isn't so funny after all."
