The audience as well as critics have given a mixed response to Brahmastra. While some people are calling the Ayan Mukerji directorial a game changer for Hindi cinema and a visual treat, others are saying that it lacks a good script.
So much so, that now people are demanding a spin-off on his role in the movie. They want a movie on Vanarastra starring Shah Rukh Khan in a full-fledged lead role.
"I heart SRK and believe he will be the best addition to the Astraverse in a full fledged role. Cast him as DEV," a fan wrote as he signed the petition.?
Another one said, "We need a standalone movie for Vanarastra starring Shah. A trilogy would be great".
A third person said, "Karan Johar and Ayan, you just can't let this pass. I mean come on guys, what more do you need. The audiences are just loving the king Shah Rukh Khan's cameo. You have to make solo lead movie with him in the astraverse. He deserves it. The world deserves it. Come on, write an awesome script and make it happen, please. Please. Please. #manifesting #universe #kaaynat."
Did the character name ring a bell? That's also the character he essayed in one of the best films of his career Swades. Why did Ayan Mukerji choose the same character name? He had worked as an assistant director in the movie. In 2019, he had shared a post wherein he wrote, "SRK (1) Inspiration. Obsession. Idol. My single biggest love at the movies through my entire childhood and teenage years, leading up the highlight of my 2 assistant director experiences - Swades and KANK - which was that I got to be in the presence of Shah Rukh Khan. And when I got very lucky, to be a stand in with him for blocking scenes (This photo is framed and put up in my house by my mother who considered it the height of my achievement obviously) (sic)."
