Nawazuddin Siddiqui Reacts To OTT Platforms Refusing His Films, Says He's Only Concerned About Acting
As the craze of OTT began in India, both creators and consumers lined up on all platforms. The amount of content and audiences saw a rush towards OTT but how long would that last? The honeymoon period is over for producers and that shall shake the mould of people wanting to create ¡®just OTT-oriented films¡¯.
Multiple sources in the film business have reported that a lot of OTT platforms are no longer being the unleashed herd. They are in no mood to pay a hefty amount to buy any and every film even when the star cast or story is impressive. Especially when producers want to take a direct OTT route without hitting the theatres.
The films of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui are falling into this pit and he has reacted to the same.
Around seven of Siddiqui¡¯s undisclosed projects are eyeing an OTT route but with no buyers? Says Nawaz to Bollywood Hungama, ¡°This is news to me. To be very honest, once I complete a film I don¡¯t keep track of its journey. Mera kaam hai acting karna. Usske aage main kuch nahin janta.¡±
Nawazuddin stays confident about the format and visual quotient of his films and feels that ¡°Whether my films are seen on the big screen or at home, I am equally excited about it. There is no difference in my mind between the two experiences.¡± When asked if he believes that viewership at home is distracted and disrespectful, he advocated saying ¡°Not true¡±.
¡°Sacred Games is my most avidly watched work and the most loved performance of my career. And it¡¯s on the digital platform Netflix. On the other hand, films like The Mountain Man and Raghav Raman where I worked really hard were hardly seen in movie theatres¡± Siddiqui further shared.
Nawaz took the internet by storm recently after releasing his look from the film Haddi where he dressed as a drag.
Sharing his experience about it, the Manjhi actor told the Bombay Times, "My daughter was very upset when she saw me dressed as a woman. She now knows that it¡¯s for a role and is fine now. I must say this, after this experience, I have huge respect for actresses who do this on a daily basis. Itna saara taam jhaam hota hai. Hair, make-up, kapde, nails... pura sansar leke chalna padta hai. Now I know why an actress may take longer than her male counterpart to get out of her vanity van. It¡¯s absolutely justified. I will have more patience now (laughs)!¡±
