'Kale Rang Aaj Kal Kafi Demand Hain', Nawazuddin When Asked If Industry Needs Only Fair People

Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has never succumbed to prevalent notions of an actor being fair-skinned or good-looking. The Manjhi actor has created a niche for himself and is credited as one the most versatile artists we have in this country. Recently, talking about the reception of actors who are dark-skinned, Nawaz has now shared his piece of mind.

Hailing actors like Rinku Rajguru and Smita Patil, Nawaz believes that he himself is in demand because of his dark complexion.

He told ETimes, “If they need fair people, then they need me as well. I am in demand. ‘Kale rang aaj kal kafi demand hai’. The beauty that a camera can capture is very different. That is an honest kind of beauty. If I am honest in front of the camera, the audience won’t realise but even I’ll start looking beautiful.”

“Look at Rinku Rajguru in Sairat. Despite having an unconventional look her presence in the film starts mesmerising you after a few minutes. At one point while watching the film I actually remarked, ‘Yeh ladki kitni khoobsurat hai!’. I honestly believe that the camera captured the beauty of Smita Patil like no other Indian actress. According to me, she was the most beautiful actress on camera. I feel the on-screen beauty is very different from real-world beauty.”

For the unversed, Nawazuddin's next film is also based on age-old beauty standards in society, including the obsession with a fair complexion. Titled Noorani Chehra, the film will mark singer and Kriti Sanon’s sister, Nupur Sanon’s Bollywood debut. It may be released anytime in 2023.

Recently, Nawazuddin’s daughter Shora Siddiqui made her first public appearance with her father at an airport. Fans couldn’t resist but call her ‘Simple and beautiful.'

Shora is Nawaz’s daughter with Anjana Kishore Pandey who he divorced in 2020 after a series of alleged accusations from Anjana. In an interview, Nawazuddin said that his daughter was very upset to see him playing a woman in his upcoming Haddi. To which he quoted, “She now knows that it’s for a role and is fine now.”

Talking about that project, Nawaz further quoted Bombay Times, “What do women think? What do they want? An actor’s job is to get into the head of the character he plays. Your perception, outlook towards life as a woman is bound to be different and that is the most difficult part about Haddi for me. The film is not about costumes and gestures. The process is more internal."
