The Family Man is undoubtedly one of the best series andevery actor deserves all the appreciation for their hard work. One artist whohas been longing for this kind of appreciation and recognition since long is Sharib Hashmi - theman who won hearts by playing JK in the show.
The man has been struggling for 12 years to get this kind of recognition andfinally his hard work has paid off.
To begin with, we asked Sharib if he expected that The Family Man will become thisbig for him, to which he said,?
¡°When season one of Family Man was out, I had alot of expectations from it because I really enjoyed working on it. The scriptwas tight, engaging and entertaining. We knew it was a clear winner and we receiveda lot of love. And now when this second season arrived, we expected same kindof love, but this is the first time that season 2 is loved even more as compared to the first one. I am just overwhelmed with this amazing response. I can¡¯t describe howbeautiful I am feeling. I have really worked very hard to get this recognitionand appreciation.¡±
The actor who is on cloud nine, thanks to the success ofFamily Man 2 spoke about his journey which of course was not easy, he said,?
"The journey has been a roller coaster ride. I have seen a lot of ups anddowns. Well, I have seen more downs than ups. But I knew one thing that despitebeing successful or not, I wanted to become an actor. I wanted to make actingmy bread and butter.
Slowly and steadily people started recognising my work. But I was damnsure I wanted to do this. I left my job and I had to do this.? Also, your success doesn¡¯t determine howtalented you are. The journey definitely was not easy."
He added, ¡°You lose hope when you are rejected every day, and it¡¯s verydifficult to keep a positive approach when you face rejection, it takes a lotof courage to keep a positive approach. There are many who lost hope, and gaveup saying I don¡¯t want to do this. But i kept my patience, and maybe that is whyI am now getting the fruit of my hard work.
?In 2008, I decided to quit my joband make my career in acting. I was 33 years old, married had kids, in that agepeople get settled, and I took the risk to start from scratch and here I am.?There have been many times when I was broken, even I am human. I survived those difficult times only because of my wife and my friends. Theynot only supported me emotionally but financially.¡±
When asked if OTT has given him what he has been longing for, he affirmed and said,?
¡°Definitely the OTT boom has been very beneficialfor all of us. My career got revived because of OTT. Everyone on OTT gets toshow their potential and I am one of them¡±.
We asked Sharib what¡¯s one advice he wants to give aspiring actors who aren¡¯t confident about their looks, he said,?
"Look really doesn¡¯t matter. I started my acting career so late becauseeven I had a complex that I will not be able to do anything, and that is whyI didn¡¯t even try and I wasted 10 years of my life. I really hope aspiringactors let go of that complex and start working on it. Don¡¯t ever think aboutyour looks, skin or body, if you feel you can make it, just go for it.
Before Family Man 2, Sharib was known for his movie Filmistaan. We asked him if ever feared the label of ¡®one film wonder¡¯, to which he said,?
"Even if I would have been known for one film and if that was only Filmistaan, I would died peacefully. ?That was a beautifulfilm and I played a lead. That film got all the appreciation and recognitionincluding National Award. And if only I would have known for that film I wouldbe thankful because there are many who haven¡¯t even reached there. I have got alot in life and that may not be materialistic but I am content.¡±
Indeed, this man¡¯s story is every bit inspiring. Shine on!
