Christopher Nolan¡¯s Oppenheimer is ruling hearts all across the world. The biographical drama which was released on the 21st of July has earned over Rs 55 crores till now on the Indian box-office. Starring Cillian Murphy in the lead, the film draws inspiration from the life of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer.
Mostly because of its sensitive placement. In the film, Cillian is seen reading Gita during a sex scene that has stirred controversy. Recently, Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur flagged the ill-treatment and reportedly asked the concerned bodies to look into this.
A source revealed to HT, "Anurag Thakur expressed his displeasure over the CBFC's failure to safeguard the interests of the public, emphasizing that such negligence cannot be overlooked. He asserted that the board members would be held responsible for their actions, signalling a clear message of accountability.¡±
In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald, Murphy expressed, ¡°Those scenes were written deliberately. [Nolan] knew that those scenes would get the movie the rating that it got. And I think when you see it, it¡¯s so f**king powerful. And they¡¯re not gratuitous. They¡¯re perfect.¡±

Talking about Florence Pugh, Cillian quotes, ¡°Florence is just amazing. I have loved Florence¡¯s work since Lady Macbeth and I think she¡¯s f***ing phenomenal. She has this presence as a person and on screen that is staggering. The impact she has [in Oppenheimer] for the size of the role, it¡¯s quite devastating.¡±
Indian filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri tweeted a screenshot of a news article saying, ¡°Oppenheimer brings Kashmiris back to cinema halls in droves¡±. He wrote alongside, ¡°BRILLIANT NEWS. Cinema halls were burnt and banned after the 90s. It¡¯s heartening to see the first film to fill houses like this is a science film.¡±
He continues to make sure that he promotes his upcoming film and writes ahead, ¡°I am glad that our science film #TheVaccineWar #ATrueStory will also release in Kashmir. I have been assured by Kashmiri youth & especially women that they will be proud to see India¡¯s biggest scientific achievement on the big screen.¡±
