People often argue that sequels are bad. Looks like Joker: Folie ¨¤ Deux, featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga proves them right. The first Joker movie broke records and earned praise for Phoenix's performance, with some even comparing it to Heath Ledger's. However, the second instalment (Joker 2) has left many fans disappointed and asking for refunds.?Jumping on the bandwagon is?Paul Schrader who found the movie so boring that he couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of it.?
The 78-year-old filmmaker who is best known for writing Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver, called?Joker: Folie ¨¤ Deux?a "really bad musical."?He said that he walked out of the theatre after 10-15 minutes to buy something. As he came back, he couldn't bear to watch Joker: Folie ¨¤ Deux for more than another 10 minutes and decided, "That was enough."
When asked to elaborate further, he slammed Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga and said, "I don¡¯t like either of those people. I don¡¯t like them as actors. I don¡¯t like them as characters. I don¡¯t like the whole thing." Not only this, he even said, "I mean, those are people who, if they came to your house, you¡¯d slip out the back door".?The Todd Phillips (The Hangover fane) movie has flopped at the box office while the first film minted over a billion at the global box office.?
Meanwhile, it has been reported that many Joker fans were so disappointed after watching the movie that they demanded refunds. "Why is joker 2 so bad, I¡¯ve never wanted my money back from a film," one of the fans of the original movie wrote on X. "What makes Joker 2 so bad is that it refuses to commit to ANYTHING. There¡¯s no theme at all, the court scenes are boring and the shock value ending is worse than I expected. Even the musical elements feel tacked on and interrupt the pacing. A total waste of time, never cook again," added another one.?The movie has a rating of 33 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and critics are calling it a "pathologically unnecessary movie" and "a sequel we didn't need."
