Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued a stern statement on Thursday, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the decision to screen the film 'The Kerala Story' on Doordarshan.
Vijayan asserted that the film was crafted with the intention of sowing seeds of discord against Kerala.
"The central government must abstain from exploiting the nation's official news broadcaster to undermine Kerala, especially during the electoral season," stated Pinarayi.
Doordarshan, in its announcement on Twitter earlier, said, "The story of Kerala that shook the whole world! Doordarshan brings you the blockbuster film #TheKeralaStory. Directed by @sudiptoSENtlm the film stars @adah_sharma, Yogita Bihani, @soniabalani9 and @Pranavmisshra. Don't forget to watch it on Friday, 5th April at 8:00 PM only on #DDNational."

A communiqu¨¦ from the CPM state secretariat echoed these sentiments, urging Doordarshan to reconsider its plan to air the contentious movie.
The party has alleged that a political motive is behind the decision to broadcast the film, particularly as elections loom on the horizon. Scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m., the telecast of 'The Kerala Story' has sparked controversy across the state.
UDF To Lodge Complaint With Election Commission
In response to Doordarshan's decision, the UDF has announced its intention to lodge a complaint with the Election Commission. Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan urged the Union Government to retract the move to air the movie on Doordarshan.
"By airing this film, which is rife with falsehoods, the Modi-led Sangh Parivar government seeks to sow seeds of division in our secular society. Recognising that divisive politics won't gain traction in Kerala, the Sangh Parivar is attempting to exploit Doordarshan for its own political ends," stated Satheesan, decrying the move as a flagrant violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
