In 2022, the BTS members ¡ª Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook ¡ª went on hiatus to complete their mandatory military service. However, between 2022 and 2025, each member released solo work and albums. By June 21, all seven members will have been discharged and ready to return to their idol life.
While ARMY has been cheering them on and celebrating their reunion, fans of another group that also went on hiatus around the same time are feeling restless. BLACKPINK, who haven't had a comeback in a while ¡ª especially after parting ways with YG Entertainment for their solo activities ¡ª are now preparing for a world tour scheduled to begin in July.
The 4 girls ¡ª Jisoo, Jennie, Ros¨¦, and Lisa ¡ª are set to return to the stage with their DEADLINE World Tour, kicking off on July 5 and 6 at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium. This marks their first full-group performance in nearly 1 year and 10 months. YG Entertainment has teased the event as "the pinnacle of BLACKPINK's live performance," promising an unforgettable experience for fans.?
However, while anticipation for the concert grows, many BLINKs are voicing frustration over the lack of new music. Despite being one of the biggest K-pop girl groups globally, BLACKPINK has released just 32 songs in their eight-year career ¡ª a point of ongoing disappointment for fans.
Frustrations grew after YG's Yang Hyun-suk recently shared the company¡¯s future plans. When it came to BLACKPINK, he merely mentioned the release of a new single¡ªfar from the full comeback album fans had been hoping for. With no further updates since, many BLINKs are once again feeling sidelined and overlooked.
Seeing BTS reunite in front of their fans ¡ª along with the flood of photos circulating online ¡ª has left many BLINKs frustrated. It¡¯s been months since all four BLACKPINK members were seen together in the same room. Fans also have no clear idea whether the group has recorded their upcoming single or even started rehearsals for the concert.
Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask where BLACKPINK is, wondering if the members are still focused on their solo careers and questioning whether they still care about the group at all.?
BLACKPINK is set to kick off a massive world tour following their Goyang concerts, with 31 performances across 16 cities. The tour will take them to major destinations including Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, London, Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Jakarta, Bulacan, Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
Alongside the tour, the group is also preparing for their long-awaited comeback ¡ª their first new music release in nearly two years and eight months since their 2022 album BORN PINK.?
