Being the biggest K-pop girl group comes with its fair share of drama, and BLACKPINK always seems to be embroiled in some controversy or another. From having barely 32 songs in eight years as a group, to leaving YG Entertainment for their solo careers, to ongoing accusations of cultural appropriation ¡ª and now, resurfaced trainee videos showing them allegedly saying the "n-word."
While some controversies fade, new ones emerge ¡ª often while the group is on tour. From the members being out of sync on stage, to Jennie leaving mid-performance, or being accused of "lazy dancing," there always seems to be something swirling around BLACKPINK's comebacks.
While BLACKPINK is facing intense backlash over their alleged use of the "n-word" during their trainee days ¡ª especially with three out of the four members fluent in English and citizens of different countries ¡ª another drama has erupted: Jennie's old tour videos are going viral once again.
Across X (formerly known as Twitter), clips of Jennie's so-called "lazy dancing" have been spreading like wildfire. The videos have even reached outside the K-pop fandom, with many questioning how fans are paying premium prices for what they're calling "mid-performances."
Some BLACKPINK fans have claimed Jennie tailors her performance energy based on the concert's location. They pointed out that her most "lazy" performances were in Asia, while in the U.S., she seemed more energetic and engaged.
One wrote, "Oh I know they were all done with her" (referring to the other BLACKPINK members).
Another said, "Let's see lazy Jennie who always walks off stage."
One commented, "Genuinely concerned ¡ª do her fans not feel bad or embarrassed? She¡¯s literally become a laughing stock as a lazy and untalented figure."
Another added, "Jennie has always been the lazy member during group performances. But all of a sudden when she's doing solo work or performing in the West, she's full of energy. LMAO."
One more wrote, "I thought y'all were exaggerating. But after watching those videos, she's really not even trying. It's disrespectful to the fans who paid a lot of money to see them, only to get this kind of energy from their fave. It's just sad."
During her appearance on Dua Lipa's podcast, Jennie had opened up about the long-standing "lazy dancing" accusations that have followed her throughout her career. She revealed that her performance choices became more cautious due to injuries she sustained on stage.
"I've learned a lot about myself ¡ª my health, how my muscles work, how bendy I am with my arms, like every detail. It all started because I would constantly hurt myself during performances and live shows, compared to other girls," she shared.
Although the four members ¡ª Jisoo, Jennie, Ros¨¦, and Lisa ¡ª currently have no new group songs together, each has released solo albums under different managements.?
Their upcoming world tour is set to kick off in South Korea on July 5 and 6 at Goyang Stadium, with stops across North America, Europe, and Asia, before wrapping up in Tokyo in January 2026. Tickets have been available to the general public since February 27.?
