The legendary melody queen and India's most loved singer Lata Mangeshkar who had once moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to tears left the entire nation in tears when she passed away on Feb 6 at the age of 92. She was admitted to a hospital on Jan 11 due to Covid-related complications and was also diagnosed with pneumonia. She passed away after suffering a multiple-organ failure.?
Iconic?singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Feb 15 at the age of 69. Known for songs like?Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, Raat Baaki Baat Baaki and Yaad Aa Raha Hai, the singer who made disco music popular in India in the '80s and '90s breathed his last at Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital after?multiple health issues. His son Bappa later revealed his father was in the hospital for the entire month of January. "No, it wasn't a breathing issue. I think his heart just stopped. My sister, brother-in-law and mother rushed him to the hospital. The doctor had been called and he said that he needs to be taken to the hospital. They reached the hospital but he couldn't be revived. I was on the phone all the time," he told TOI.?

Santoor maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma passed away at the age of 84 following cardiac arrest on May 10.?Born on January 13, 1938, Pt. Sharma brought the humble folk-music instrument 'Santoor' onto the world stage with his unique renditions.?He collaborated with the eminent flautist Pt. Chaurasia as the Shiv-Hari duo, composed music for several films including Silsila, Lamhe, Chandni, Darr and others.?Pt. Sharma was bestowed with honours and accolades including the Padma Vibhushan in 2001.
Indian playback singer and musician who specialised in Bengali music passed away on Feb 15 due to age-related ailments at the age of 90. Born and brought up in Kolkata, she was a student of classical music legend Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. A trained classical musician, she began her career in Bollywood and sung for 17 Hindi films. Later, she moved back to Kolkata and married poet Shyamal Gupta in 1966, who wrote the lyrics for many of her songs. In her career spanning over several decades, Mukherjee won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
Legendary music composer and Santoor player Pandit Bhajan Sapori who hailed from Kashmir passed away at the age of 74. He was undergoing treatment for cancer at Fortis Hospital in Gurugram.?"He was diagnosed with colon cancer last year in June. We admitted him to Fortis, Gurugram, three weeks back for immunotherapy treatment. It didn't work for him and his health deteriorated," his son Abhay told PTI.
The ghazal singer who lent his melodious voice to some memorable songs like Naam Gum Jayega, Dil Dhoondta Hai and?Hothon Pe Aisi Baat among others passed away at the age of 82.?As per his wife Mitali, he was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai due to severe health-related complications.?He died of a heart attack.?"He was suffering from several health complications, including urinary issues since some time," his grieving wife Mitali told IANS.??
He had also tested positive for COVID-19, she revealed to PTI.?"He was admitted to the hospital eight to ten days ago as he had some infection in the urine. After tests were performed, he tested positive for COVID-19. He passed away at around 7.45 pm due to suspected colon cancer and had COVID-19."
