As per a report in TMZ, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas have named their baby Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. The name was revealed after TMZ obtained the child's birth certificate. The report also revealed that the baby was born 'just after 8 PM' on January 15 at a San Diego hospital.?

The name Malti has its origins in Sanskrit and is a popular name in India, Priyanka's homeland. Malti means moonlight or small fragrant flower. Priyanka, who is often praised by her Desi fans for keeping her culture alive no matter where she goes, will surely win hearts after naming her baby with a Sanskrit connect.?

As for Marie, the name has Latin origins and is derived from Stella Maris, meaning Star Of The Sea. It also has a biblical connection as Mother Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, is called Stella Maris as well.?

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed their baby via surrogacy in January this year. The couple announced the happy news via an Instagram post. The note shared by the couple read, "We are overjoyed to confirm we have welcomed a new baby girl via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much."

Priyanka and Nick are yet to reveal the first pictures of their baby and keep her away from public eye. The actress has talked about her experience with motherhood on more than one occasions.?

Recently, during a chat with comedian Lilly Singh at the launch of her new book,?Priyanka said, "As a new parent right now, I keep thinking about that I will never be imposing my desires, fears, my upbringing on to my child. I have always believed that children come through you not from you. There is no belief like this is my child and I will shape everything. They come through you to find and build their own life. Recognising that really helped me, my parents were very non-judgemental in a certain way."
