Pushpa 2 is ruling both the hearts and theatres like anything. This Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna*s film has taken most of the screens and in some multiplexes all the screens. This is largely affecting the businesses of the other movies released in recent days leading to accusations against makers for hogging theatres. Here*s a quick look at the entire fiasco.
The seasoned filmmaker took to his Instagram stories to support Payal Kapadia*s award-winning movie All We Imagine As Light which was released in limited theatres recently. He mentioned that even when the makers could only manage a limited release, the Pushpa 2 makers did not allow even a single screen for this critically acclaimed film.
Sharing the screenshot of a booking screen with all Pushpa 2 shows, Vikramaditya wrote, ※And yet, Payal*s incredible success will mean f**k all to us because we will throw her film out, not let it breathe or find an audience, and will have 36 shows a day of one film in a single multiplex. Congratulations. We deserve this." He then shared a report claiming that theatre owners have been arm-twisted to sign a contract saying no other film can be played in theatres for 10 days except Pushpa 2.
He added, ※The irony of them being strong-armed after they*ve done the exact same thing in the past multiple times to the producers is just#Either way, this is a terrible precedent to set. Multiplexes cannot and should not be monopolised in this way. If every big film started doing this then it would be disastrous.§
Director Christopher Nolan's 2014 hit film Interstellar has been re-released worldwide except in India. The reason is that the movie needs IMAX screens to premiere but sadly all of those have already been booked by Pushpa 2 makers. ※Christopher Nolan's Interstellar has been re-released on IMAX screens worldwide. However, the re-release is not happening in India, as Pushpa 2 is taking over all IMAX screens in the country,§ an X user wrote.
Do you think this a good practice by Pushpa 2 makers or just a smart move for their own benefit? Share your thoughts @indiatimes.
