Ram Gopal Varma claims Allu Arjun’s arrest was ‘publicity' stunt to boost Pushpa 2 collection; Internet reacts

As much as Pushpa 2 has created a furore among cinema enthusiasts, it has also brought a whirlpool in the life of its lead protagonist Allu Arjun. The Hyderabad’s Chikkadapally police arrested the actor on 13th December and released him on interim bail a day after. This was in connection to a fan’s death during Pushpa 2’s December 4 premiere. Now, out of all assumptions, Ram Gopal Varma feels that the entire arrest episode was just to boost the film’s collections.

The filmmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) and claimed that ‘everybody’ was shocked thinking why Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ‘did this’ to Arjun. He wrote, “Regarding everybody’s SURPRISE SHOCK about why the Honourable chief minister of TELANGANA @revanth_anumala did this to @alluarjun, I think it is because he wanted to give a BIG PUBLICITY BOOST to the Telangana state’s FAVOURITE SON for a HUGE RISE in #Pushpa2 ‘s week 2 ‘s collections.”

Varma pointed out how the state processed a ‘deliberately weak prosecution’ which allowed Arjun to get bail within a few hours. “This explains why the STATE did such a deliberately weak PROSECUTION so that he could be BAILED OUT in a few hours and become even more MEGA POPULAR to RULE the BOX OFFICE for a LOOONG LOOOOONGGG TIME,” he wrote further thanking the CM for all his efforts in making this happen in Arjun’s favour.

While many users strangely believed in RGV’s conspiracy theories, many were confused about whether he was supporting or slamming Pushpa 2. Someone joked, “I hope the entire episode was not planned and directed by you?”. Another one took a dig, “Mr RGV sir in our college LLB admission will start, plz join.” “Bhenc**d, itni clarity agar iske filmo mein dikhata toh,” the third wondered.
